wifi on my phone is sweet

i live in a VERY weak reception area so my web surfing is slow at best. speedtestmobile gave me speeds between 19 kbps-240 kbps so i got a router at Target for $30. minimum speeds now are 750kbps!!!
i had read wifi is a battery hog but after playing around for over an hour my battery hasnt dropped a bar. im actually getting better battery life than on The Network. sending a 5mb file via evdo drops my battery 50% vs very little on the wifi. heck bluetooth is more draining combined with 1 bar max 1x/evdo combo.
just wanted to pass on that wifi is less battery killing than weak signal :2thumbs:
I set it up secured and since its a cheapo its range is about 100' at most, so unless someone surfs from my yard they wont be using my router. i guess i could set it in a wide open area to increase the range but outside i have a solid,though slower connection so im happy

since getting a surprise unpaid Christmas vacation( co filed for bancruptcy and closed permanently) Ive got more time to do this type of stuff. i actually need email and what not since Im home with a toddler. im using my phone a lot more for the web now. eesumes,unemployment claims,etc. i need to check my email more often too
