Migrating to O2 from XV6800- any tips?

Hi all, tomorrow my O2 finally arrives. Gotta love corporate purchasing. I requested on 12/2

Anyhow, both times when my XV6800 got replaced I ended up royally screwing up the Active Sync migration. So much so that on my PC right now I have three folders: WM_Bucky, WM_Bucky1, WM_Bucky2, WM_Bucky3. The "active" folder to sync is WM_Bucky1. God knows how it ended up there.

I sync only files with my desktop PC. I have to use exchange to sync my outlook email and my calendar, but I don't use that to sync my address book, since my "personal" address book is on my home PC, and I can't figure out how to sync to two different sources. So I just use PIMBACKUP to copy my phone's address book to my storage card.

So I'm wondering what the best strategy would be to get over to the O2. Of course, it shows up on xmas eve- a day when nobody is busy, right? So I want to get this over with as quickly as possible.

Should I just do one last sync with the XV6800, name my new device "WM_Bucky1" (how do I do that on the O2?), then hook the O2 up to active sync and let it do its thing? Then move my storage card over and reinstall my programms (voice command, slingplayer, google maps, pimbackup) and restore the phonebook?

Is there anything I could screw up this way?? Is there a better way?? Gah, I wish the timing were different...

Thanks!

Thanks Gee. Looks like crisis delayed though. 3 weeks for my company to get me the phone, and the Omnia was shipped- not the Omnia II. Sigh. I guess maybe they'll correct this by groundhog day.

You should install the marketplace app and then install myphone. Myphone will back up your data without the need for an activesync connection.
