Samsung Battery Life issue workaround

battery issue can be solved by following these steps in order:

1) drain battery until the phone does not turn on again
2) plug it in into wall charge and charge to 90% (rapid charge).
3) plug it in into computer's USB charger until phone reports 100% full (trickle charge).
4) repeat steps 1-3 atleast 3 times when you initially buy it and once a month thereafter.

This routine has reported the moment to have a battery life of 89.5 hours, no kidding, of course with minimal use but the test was conducted to see how long the charge was held. Read the thread above.

The theory is that the battery meter is not synced with the battery size. So we need to sync the two up. These steps allow it to do it. Additionally rapid charge apparently doesnt fully top it off, so a trickle charge is needed to top it off.

sorry if this has been explained already. Mods should consider making this a sticky as it has helped many out.

sorry thats complete bull****. You do not drain a lithium ion battery they have no memory effect and doing that will damage the battery. Best way is to do what you normally do. Go to bed leave it on charger wake up take it off use it like you do come home when it gets bellow 10% the nput it on the charger and dont take it off again till it either is ufll or you wake up. Keep it as full as possible= less damage to the internal compents= more battery charge you hold.

I am only sharing what I found. The steps have worked for many. Maybe you had different results.

I'm not an expert in the way batteries are made nor do I really know how the whole memory thing works. If you do please explain. But I know for a fact that these steps above have worked for many others.

anyone saying they get 85 hours out of this battery is lying not possible. and how do you now its a fact? did you watch it? no your going by what they tell you and thier lying tiher asses off or using multiple batteries. A lithium ion battery isnt a standard rechargable battery. It doesnt learn. What it has is what it has. The more you fill it up and empty it out the more damaged it is. The best way to prolong battery life is to keep it as full as possiblle aka charge it as few times as possible not draining it all the time and recharging it. That casues the battery to get hot and cold way to often. Like any eletronic complenet expanding and contracting damages its use and kills its life.

I would ask you to read the battery link on my sig. They do "learn" since they actually have a chip on them. It's what reports the batteries status to the device. Keeps it from over charging, blowing up and over heating. It is what tells your device it's temperature, current, et al details about the battery..

You are confusing "memory", which it doesn't have like Nickel batteries.. But they do have a draw back that is similar, they lose 10% per year and more so when they get hot. Which you can call a memory effect. It's just not as bad or obvious as with NiMh.

This learning is why they tell you when you first get the phone to use it until it turns off then to put it to charge. You will also note that manuals tell you to plug items in and let them charge for at least 8 hours "before" using them. And their charge / life will get better within a few charges..

I find it funny you asked in several threads, people try to help, But it seems you already have more than enough knowledge to answer yourself.

umm no they dont lithium ions have no memory effect. That link obviously has no idea how to prolong a lithium ion battery. Becasue anyone that has any idea what a lithium ion battery is knows not to do that. This is why people have such isues iwth ther batteires they listen to stupid links like above and think is right when thier damaging thier battery more then they relize.

Do not leave a nickel-based battery in a charger for more than a few days, even on trickle charge. This is LITHIUM ION BASED

and as I said :
Avoid frequent full discharges because this puts additional strain on the battery. Several partial discharges with frequent recharges are better for lithium-ion than one deep one. Recharging a partially charged lithium-ion does not cause harm because there is no memory. (In this respect, lithium-ion differs from nickel-based batteries.) lol I find it funny that someone finds information on the internet and thinks its factual this debate is over no one gets 85 hours of use off a momment when thier using it, your just damaging your lithium ion battery and you obviously have no common sense when you get some I will gladly reply till then enjoy this getting old.
