Re: rooting..........?

Uh....not too sure about them all being rooted.....don't believe that is true.

If you want to have a good guide, I pasted this from another topic. It is very useful.

Two very helpful sites.
Rooting 2.1:
http://forum.sdx-developers.com/android-2-1/de03-instructions-for-flash-recovery-root-custom-patch/?PHPSESSID=vq3jep506mjr96av0csgmk1814

Rom Kitchen (quite useful):
http://www.sdx-downloads.com/custom/

Second site has some configurations that include root. I used it to install a ROM and live wallpapers with different boot images, and it worked really well. I used the first site to root it, and it includes all the drivers/software you need, which is very convenient. Just used the second site to customize.

Re: rooting..........?

Okay, how about "I've yet to see one that isn't." The rooting comes from the kernel, and with the limited number of kernels that actually get used in custom roms, chances are if you load one you will have root.

Re: rooting..........?

Try using a different kernel, that's where the battery fixes are located. Joeykrims, little kernel, and meatkernel are all supposed to have better battery life, I can't vouch for any others.

Re: rooting..........?

Depends on how you plan on doing it, most kernels come as either a .zip file or a zImage file, either way you use recovery to flash it, either apply the zip file or flash the zImage, easier way is definitely the zip file, it's just like applying a custom rom.

Re: rooting..........?

Just take a minute to read the links I posted above. They try to explain it very well, and if you have questions about a step, you can always post on here. I didn't know much about it before I became a member of this site, but now it seems I'm doing something new to my poor phone every other week.

The main thing with the Moment is you have to go through Samsungs update program to do much.
