Why Suggest Install Samsung PC Studio?

On Samsung's website it says that the Samsung PC Studio is not compatible with the Moment so why are there some suggestions to install it in order to root your phone?
http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/...=0&PROD_ID=559

Does Samsung mean it's not compatible as in you're not able to use the functions of the software on the phone?
I mean, the drivers contained in the Samsung PC Studio does work with our phones, right?

I'm confused

The drivers do work but most of the features, and certainly any that would be useful, do not work with the Moment. So everyone, including me, is telling users looking to root to install the PC Studio because of the drivers that get installed. And one would hope that eventually Samsung will release an update for PC Studio that actually makes it something worth having for Moment owners.

It's true that drivers are definitely installed when you install Samsung PC Studio.
I guess the only thing I'd like to streamline is the fact that we install Samsung PC Studio and then have to make sure it's disabled/killed before using Odin. How about we try to figure out how to just get the drivers Moment users will need and eliminate Samsung PC Studio altogether, of course until it's compatible with our phones :)

The reason I'm asking about this is because I know of the conflict it causes and if we could simplify things for others, they would be more likely to attempt things.

Re: Why Suggest Install Samsung PC Studio?

I follow your thinking. I got a new PC at work yesterday and am not planning on installing the Samsung PC Studio on it, but will grab the drivers off my laptop from PC Studio tonight. Then I will uninstall PC Studio and try to flash to a newer kernel (I am still on 12.1) and see if I can get it done with just the drivers that I extract. If that works, I will post them and change my instructions for rooting.

1 Attachment(s)
I found some drivers, repackaged them into a self-extracting self-installer
Haven't tested them for rooting just yet though... good thing is these are also uninstallable using add/remove programs.

EDIT:
I tested these drivers and they work with the Sprint Utility
A reboot is required after install for these drivers to work

Elephant007 - i attempted to install the drive you have attached on the forum and when i go to install it after it was extracted it gave me a warning message... I run windows XP Media Center Edition, and was wondering if it is compatible. It said the program has not passed the windows logo test verification or something of that nature...

I have no idea because I didn't test it with MCE, I would just say install drivers anyway and see if it works
