Moment - Indestructible....sort of..

I dropped my Moment face down on a cement patio......needless to say the screen shattered. However, to my disbelief every function of the touch screen and the light sensors still work 100%!!!! So when most of the time your without a phone when you break the screen mine is still ticking. PROPS for that design! At least I can still do business while I wait for insurance replacement!http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment...1&d=1266127186

lol yup the little shards of glass are starting to fall out though. Wish I could just replace the face instead of $100 deductible...

Seems the reason is because the AMOLED and the touch part of the phone are two different components...

well I'll be! Good POST! What gets me though is that I've broke digitizers numerous times and the touch function is GONE nearly completely. Mine is not gone at all period and its shattered I can even touch on the shattered parts. Wonder if there is a cover on top of the digitizer?

you could at least give me a THANKS!

So are you still going to get the replacement or are you going for the replacement parts?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.5; en-us; SPH-M900 Build/CUPCAKE) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1)

I'm on mobile version of board no thx button....next time I get on the pc I will.

I had already insured it before I got your post. I am going to hopefully attempt a teardown vid today....

Just harassing you about the Thanks, I'll take one though!
Yeah you should have come to the forum before you insured it, that's if you wanted to go that route... would have been interesting to see pictures and step by step tear down and installation of the parts!

Doesn't look like I need any special tools other than a very small set of screw drivers. Had a friend pop in from DC so I'm busy this evening. Tomorrow off work again so maybe an update tomorrow.

It's because of the capacitive touchscreen. The same thing will happen on a Hero. If the screen cracks, you will still be able to operate it as long as it is somewhat intact.
