Data can't connect

I've had an Intrepid for a few months and it is quite problematic. Most of the time I will get an error trying to connect to browse or use other data "can't connect"...etc. Reset, pull out battery, etc.

Anybody experience this? I was on the phone with Sprint and they tried to sending some 'refresh' to it.

There are some days the data just works fine, but it's too inconsistent.

Any suggestions?

Have you updated to the new firmware? It was just released recently and as near as I can tell from the bugs previously posted, takes care of much of 'em.

I actually have this problem now after I did the rom update.

I find, depending where you live, Samsung intrepid is picky depending if the cellular tower is Sprint, Verizon, or ATT’s GSM. Have you traveled to an area where the phone went in and out roaming repeatedly over a period of five to ten minutes? If I travel to a certain area (Lewes, Delaware is one example), my phone will detect low coverage of Sprint’s network, so it will go in and out of roaming on Verizon and then try ATT’s GSM network. After it find’s ATT’s network it will be fine for maybe a minute and then searches. Even if I have roaming settings turned off, the phone has a mind of it’s own! Then when I get home (Millsboro, Delaware), where I have prefect Sprint coverage, the phone will not connect via the internet. I soft reset it, change numerous settings and my finally conclusion is to do a hard reset. After the hard reset, its back to working!

I tried calling customer support multiple times, which that was a joke. Tried to search online about it and nothing! I tried to problem solve this issue for a few weeks now and I have encountered it every single time I travel to those areas where Sprint has low levels! After the 46th time, I just plan ahead now and make sure my phone is off and it’s good to go when I get back home! Sounds to me, you may have something like this happen.

I was a customer of ATT’s for about 14 years. They have great coverage in my area, only except where I live. Last year, I had my home’s roof upgraded to metal. After that, any coverage I did have inside my house went by by. With Sprint on the other hand, I have perfect coverage at home but lack anywhere else. If I had the money, I would have a ATT phone and a Sprint phone!

I love the people who tell me Sprint roams free. Well, they don't have a Samsung Intrepid. It roams just fine but it kicks you in the balls after. And this is coming from a Microsoft Mobile programmer as well!

You phone won't roam on GSM while in the US, so you are not roaming on ATT

Thats what I thought too. After five calls to Sprint about my concerns, they are the people who said it was roaming to Att's GSM network.

Alright, well, let's get rid of that option just to stop confusing you- REMOVE THE SIM CARD. It's not needed what-so-ever, and I am running my phone without it.

Then go to Phone, Menu, options, Network, click CDMA only. You'll also see that you can't click anything in the GSM menu. You will also notice a HUGE increase in battery life :)

Found that deleting the #777 data connection and creating a new one has fixed it for me....at least for now.

Thanks for the other suggestions.
