flashing geen light won't turn off

When I reboot my i760 the vibrate cones on and the green light flashes and keeps flashing
the only way to turn off the green light is to activesync my cellphone and let it charge until red light comes on.
How do I turn off the flashing green light?
ps when I do go activesync I get an error message which states "can't find IP etc."
