Why do I need a lock screen??? Am I missing something?
 

I've been using this phone for a bout a week now. I can't figure out why I need a lock screen. It seems like an extra step. The only thing that wakes up the phones display is the power button, a phone call (which has it's own swipe to answer thing), an alarm or probably some special non-native apps. So about 100 times a day I'm hitting the power button and then swiping my finger.

Does anyone else think this is redundant? Is there a native way to get rid of the lock screen or do I have to download an app?

look for "no lock" in market, looks like your fix. enable/disable and a widget.

thx. I think I checked it out before and it was glitchy on Epic. Will try again. My memory sucks. : )

The lock screen with a password comes in handy in case you loose your phone. The data will be safe untill the person who finds it can crack your code. lol.
But it will give you a chance to find it.

i agree plus some android people dont set it to use a password but its a good idea. i dont have time for it but it is a good idea.

definitely a valid point but not worth the gazillion extra clicks to me. Maybe I should install one of those remote wipe pieces of software.... anyone recommend one?

not rooted yet. Used to do custom roms on the TP2. My thought process is that I want to wait as long as possible before rooting (the process is always being refined etc...) and the reason for me to root will be when I want tethering which won't be till I travel which is rare : ) Is there a better/free option then wavesecure if rooted?
