Does anyone else have this issue and is there a fix for it?

Re: Typing URL in PIE painfully slow

I most definitely have this problem. A solution would be greatly welcomed.

Are you talking about IE6? If so, then go HERE and download the IE Toggle app. You can toggle between IE6 (which has the slow address bar typing issue) and PIE (which is the older version of IE mobile). PIE doesn't have this issue.

Re: Typing URL in PIE painfully slow

I have found that setting the cache, history and cookies to storage card fixes it, but you need to hack the registry for this .

Re: Typing URL in PIE painfully slow

I second that motion. It is faster to have google in my favorites and do a search for what I could have just typed in... SSOOOO stoopid.

Re: Typing URL in PIE painfully slow

Just to put this into the collective memory:

Poster 'chezbut' above is correct. This bug can be fixed by changing the various cache locations for IE to the memory card. I just did this for my wife's phone and it worked. How this ever made it out of testing is beyond me.

Using TotalCommander, open the following key tree:

\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ex porer\Shell Folders

There are three keys there: Cache, Cookies, and History, with values thus:

\Windows\Profiles\guest\History

Change '\Windows' to '\Memory Card' in each of the three keys, and restart the phone. Voila, you can now type fast in the URL bar. You do not need to pre-create the folders on the memory card.

I have no idea what will happen if you remove the memory card.

Enjoy.
