Battery drain and heat!

I've had my Treo Pro for a couple weeks now, and coming from the Touch Pro I am completely loving the battery life!

Today, however is another story. Not sure if it's a random problem. Pulled my phone out and it was HOT, and noticed the battery level had dropped to 28% in just 4 hours. Checked the task manager, nothing running but Activesync. Did a couple resets, and took the battery out for a few minutes - did not solve the problem. Data connection seems to be staying on looking like it's trying to do something (arrows light up), but no programs are running that would use data. Putting the phone into Airplane Mode fixes it.

Anyone have this happen at random before?

Re: Battery drain and heat!

I just set my Weather Panel to stop auto updating and my data connection is staying off now. I'll leave it that way for now and see if the problem completely goes away.

Re: Battery drain and heat!

Update - It's been 3 hours now and still no more excessive heat or battery drain. Weather Panel must not have been able to update successfully and kept trying to. That's the only thing I can think of.

Re: Battery drain and heat!

Yikes! I am glad to see this post. I have the same problem and got my STP for 3 weeks so I thought maybe it was defective. Figure it could have been a network issue but the newness of my device was a definite possibility. I also run WeatherPanel, so now is it Sprint or WeatherPanel? I did disabled my WeatherPanel earlier but my STP still drained to 5% regardless... It is now opened up sitting on my desk looking all sad... No charger at work so now I am SOL...

Re: Battery drain and heat!

There's a thread about this over at treocentral.com. It seems that WeatherPanel is indeed having issues and causing massive battery drain:

A fix is being worked on here:
