Re: Got phone as modem to work

are you guys getting this to work on vista?

I had XP and never had a problem until I bought a new laptop. Now it connects for a few seconds and then it sayd that windows kicked me out. Why is this? I can't get any of my contacts or anything to sync.

Any ideas?

Ok I'll bite...what does connecting to the internet using your phone have anything to do with synchronizing your contacts?

umm maybe the fact that nothing works other than looking at at my files like a USB drive! The purpose of me asking is to fix the issue with internet not working, contacts not syning or anything like it works with XP. It takes just as much work to answer my question as it is too write some dumbass question back at me!

So do you know why this is? is it a setting issue that vista kicks my phone out my it is connected. I figured if I can make the internet work then maybe everythig else will work too...

Re: Got phone as modem to work

I ALSO CHANGE THE FOLLOWING VALUES!!!!

this works 100% flawless for me

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\InternetSharing
change "PreferredAPN" = (connection you want to use as "String")

and then change:
HKCU\Comm\RasBook\ICS
change "DevCfg" (copy this from the "DevCfg" pf the connection you want to use in same reg folder)
change "Entry" (also copy this from the connection you want to use in same reg folder)

you could just delete
HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings
"ForceCellConnection" = "ICS"
***but this setting seems to revert everytime

it is easier to follow my steps above one time and the solution is done

i am adding this to my cricket cab file so that ICS will be working on my cricket 800Ws

if anyone needs a cab for just the ICS reg edits, PM me on howardforums.com and i will build it for you...so long as you prmise to post it here on ppcgeeks.com and give me credit

also- in your PM please tell me your carrier and what the name of your primary connection is so that i do not reproduce cabs

thank you

Thru programs? File explorer?

I hit active sync in programs under the start tab and there's no such way to go to "file"

Ok are you accessing HKCU\Software\Microsoft\InternetSharing by using a reg editorr? I'm not sure how that exactly works but I just downloaded a registry editor..

Re: Got phone as modem to work

Ok strange problem..

I run the set up file for the resco explorer, the reg editor, and even the cab file.. and a bunch of code runs in an internet explorer window.. and that's it.

I can't edit it, there's no new programs on my phone.. nothing.

Am I missing something? Thx
