Battery Charge

Quick question for all you gurus out there....should I run down the battery on my treo occationally? On other phones I've had, (and my laptop) they mention that you should run your battery down occationally so it will last longer. I've never really understood it, but thought I'd throw the question out there

My 0.2 cents...no.
Unlike Ni-Cd batteris, lithium-ion batteries should be charged early and often...they should not be "deep-cycled" like Ni-Cd batteries. Lithium-ion batteries do not have a "memory".

That's the short answer.

late,
Coz

yeah older cell phones and electronics required this, but not the newer technology we have. I just charge mine whenever.

And actually a fast little fact... You should NEVER let a lithium ion battery completely discharge. I know from personal experience and what we learned in my electrical engineering classes that each time you completely discharge it..the less of a chance you have of ever getting it to charge at all again. PSP Lithium batteries are famous for this.
