Is it the phone or the headset?

On our last trip to Puerto Rico I was helping my aunt set up her new Motorola Q with some mp3s. I put a bunch of them on her phone and then proceeded to explain to her that she could get a bluetooth headphone set when she put on her headset and waddaya know...the music was coming out of the headset.

So my question is: is it the phone or is it the headset that allows this? I thought that the latest bluetooth stack (the hacked one) for the 700wx would be enough but Stereo or Headphones is not a role I can assign to my Jabra headset. Am I missing something here or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Oh yeah...and the headset she's using is the one the phone comes with (Motorola brand?).

I think it's a combo of both, because it all depends on what BT profiles are supported by both the headset and the device, and the also BT profiles are offered by the device.

I'll bet her BT headset has a headphone profile and that's why it worked like that.

Yes, it is both. As far as I know, all BT headsets allow support for A2DP. Therefore, in order for the device to use that headset, it must support A2DP as well.

That's strange. I know I replied. I can go back up and I can edit it and see my last post, but it's not showing up. As a mod, you should be able to edit my post, so try and edit it. This is the first time I've ever seen this happen on a forum. Besides, doesn't this forum have a minimum word count on replies?

Anyways, this is what I said...

Oh...so since the Treo doesn't currently support A2DP then that would be a "no you can't do that with your phone"

The Sprint 700wx dose not have A2DP out of the box, but it can installed.

Yeah...I had done that already but the headset doesn't show the Stereo role. I get that when I pair up my wireless headphones. Oh well...
