Re: Treo 700w Verizon to Alltel

The 1st thing to look into is whether or not AllTel is a CDMA network or GSM network. The Treo is a CDMA device, so if AllTel is a GSM network, then you're out of luck. Now, if it happens to be a CDMA network, you'll have to find out if AllTel will activate another carrier's device on their network. Sprint, for example, does not like to do this. Get these issues cleared up first, then go looking for the necessary ROM. Welcome to Geekdom!

Re: Treo 700w Verizon to Alltel

I have a friend who also got a verizon treo and had it flashed and activated on alltel. He went to alltel and they flashed it for him. I just went to the same place today and now they say they cant flash it. They did say that they could activate it, but it wouldnt get updates properly and would probably have other complications. All the while my friends in store flashed phone work just fine.
