Which is a bigger power drain, Push or Pop mail?
I did a hardware reset and installed everything to my liking. My Treo 700wx seems to be running allot smoother now. I'm just wondering whether or not to configure for Pop or Push mail. For Push mail, I'm considering of using Emoze Personal, which uses your desktop Outlook to push, whatever email accounts you configure, to your device. I've already tried Sprint's Business Connect, which I didn't like to well, since it only pushes 1 email account. It also seems to lock the account so I'm unable to login to my PC to download the email. I haven't looked at Sprint's Mobile Email, but I'm leaning towards Emoze, since it was really very easy to use.
Anyway, I was wondering which is a bigger power drain, Push or Pop mail? |

General speaking, the push mail advantage is to get the mail as soon as it arrives the server without having to full sync with the server in short interval with pop to gain that advantage. With that regard, yes push mail does save power over pop. However, if you do not care about how quick you know the email coming, then you can set the pop to a long sync interval and actually save a lot of juice instead. Jeff |
Exactly, if you set POP to be checked every 10 hours it will obviously use less battery than push.
Now, this is regular push we are talking about. Keep in mind if you push through Emoze the battery drain may be different than regular push since you actually have an extra application running in the background. I don't know what the actual drain differences would be since I have not used and am not too familiar with Emoze. Also, regular push will only push 1 account at a time since you can only sync to 1 server at a time. AS only allows you to set 1 server to sync. Of course you can always forward other addresses to that push one. |
Hello,
You can configure emoze to push at time intervals. This way you'll have less battery drain. emoze is FREE and easy to install, so just download the new version and give it a try. For free download: www.emoze.com http://resources.emoze.com/screenSho...inMobile05.jpg Enjoy. |
