Have you installed the new "Windows Mobile Device Center"? That replaces AS in Vista. Give that a try first: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...icecenter.mspx

Something tells me he has...

I'm sorry, I don't use Vista and we don't have many users who have upgraded to it yet, don't know what to tell you.

Do you have the driver for treo installed?

When you open the device manager, does it list anything under portable devices? If so....

1.) Right-click on the device with the 700 docked and select uninstall. It should have the device listed as whatever you named the 700 during setup. My guess is that since Vista isn't seeing it, it will list it as an "unrecognized" device.

2.) Unplug the 700.
3.) Do a soft reset.
4.) Reconnect the 700.

It sounds like it could be the dreaded Vista firewall. Chris has a great site to help folks with any type of connection woes: http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/wmdc/t-shoot-wmdc.htm

I hope this works for you!

I have had troubles also with Vista-Mobile Device Center. I tried the website above and even removed my Device Center and redownloaded it but still no luck in connecting my 700w to my laptop. I was on the phone with Verizon "tech support" and he had no clue! They don't have any info about Device Center at all for troubleshooting and the tech told me that there was no other way to make a connection between my laptop and treo. Hope someone figures it out!
