battery life

Hey Guys..

I just noticed my battery life has been going downhill.. and fast. I only get about 6-8 hrs before it's completely dead. I suspect it has something to do with the wireless manager but I can't seem to control it. I have the following programs loaded:

Weatherpanel
Phone Alarm
Today Agenda

WP is set to connect every 30 min.. should I increase to like 6 hrs?

any help is appreciated!

I would set WP to about 1 hour. Are your keyboard lights on? If you want to turn them off there are some apps floating around the software forum. Decrease your screen brightness too. Is your BT on?

Yeah 30 mins. is too often for WP. How about e-mail? Do you have any POP3 accounts being checked at a time interval???

If so, you may want to make that interval longer.

what's the deal with weather panel? What features are you using on it, I guess what I'm asking is what is your main purpose for using the app?
I would suggest as mentioned, to get the keyboard light program. I used that application and never have my keyboard illuminated.. saves greatly on battery.

If you're using Weather Panel to just get the forecast for your area you and you have text messaging you could always go to http://www.weather.com/mobile/textmessaging.html sign up to receive messages from your area..

Thanks everyone for the info. I've turned off my keylights, WP updates to 6hr and disabled POP checking (it was set to 15 min default!)

I wonder if push-mail will solve the POP3 e-mail problems constantly checking..

yeah the 15 minute POP3 checking is probably the most power consuming item you had. PUSH will improve upon that, but I doubt push is more efficient than checking a POP3 on the hour.

Oh wow yeah having POP being checked every 15 mins. is what probably killed your battery. I have WP check every 1 hour and still do ok.
