Strange Behavior Using Headphones or Speakers

Has anyone ran into an issue when you have speakers for sure plugged into your phone (possible headphones as well) that all system sounds come through the speakers as well as music, but when you get a phone call the sound comes through the built in speaker?

I am heard of hearing to a degree and I have a set of external speakers that I plug in at night so that I can hear the phone ring at night when I must be oncall for my job. I use to have a Sprint 6700 and it worked great with that phone. However, with my 700 the ringer will come through the internal speaker instead of the speakers that are plugged in.

I have done this on other PDA phones as weel without any issues. When speakers are plugged in all sound go through the speakers.

Anyone have this issue or am I the only one here? I am wondering if I have a hardware problem or it is just the nature of the 700 since this is the firest tome I have tried it with this phone.

Hey Devil...I honestly have never heard of such a problem. Has this been a constant problem for you with wx or did it just start? Have you tried different ringers or tried making your own ringtone from an mp3?

There might be a registry hack for this. Post up in the Registry Forum or search it.

Let me know what you come up with.

late,
Coz

In order for the ringer to come through the speakers/headphones exclusively then you MUST set the ringer switch off. Doing so will cause ALL system sounds to default to the external audio device(s) aka the headphones/speakers. It took me a while to figure it out but that's what I've dealt with. Now the hard part is to remember to toggle the switch in order to suit your needs depending on where you want to output the audio.

Never thought of that. I will give it a try. Seems kind of strange considering that most "normal" audio devices will mute the internal speaker(s) when you plug in a set of headphones. But then again, this is a phone and not a normal audio device.

Sorry if I left everyone hanging here, but I have been out of town. I have since tried the suggestion of setting the switch on toop of the phone to mute. And as suggedsted, all sounds come through the external speakers.

Thanks.
