THREADED SMS ALTERNATIVE (TxtMan)

With all the BS surrounding the THREADED SMS APPLICATION and while researching the app, I stumbled across a threaded SMS alternative. As popular as threaded SMS seems to be, I'm SURE many people on here have seen it, but I could find not even 1 instance of it being mentioned on this forum (based on my SEARCH results). Here is the website: http://benhirashima.com/software/

Does anyone here have any experience with this software?

It requires .NET CF 2.0 so many people stay away from it because of it.

Why do people stay away from .Net?

Pibe38 02-23-2007 06:35 PM

Slows down the system and takes like 2 MB of storage memory while doing it.

Yes it has been discussed, but for whatever reason it doesn't come up in a search. Check out http://www.ppcgeeks.com/viewtopic.php?p=18134.

What BS are you referring to? And what's with the duplicate posting with the SAME exact message from TreoCentral? http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...d.php?t=137735

I didn't post that at Treo Central. The poster @ TC obviously copied my post from here and I pointed that out over there. As for the BS, as I said over at TC, the trouble of acquiring the hack and Palm getting their feathers ruffled at the idea of us installing it is BS.

Oh, and by the way; TxtMan sucks compared to the Palm Messaging app.

Odd ... why would someone copy your post word for word. Anyhow, I see they updated their post to be different now.

I'm lucky that I got in early on the SMS hack. It's stupid for Palm not to update the w/wx with the app. I mean, come on, it's popular and makes their device more usable. Perhaps it'll be included in an update at some point in the future. :) I won't hold my breath though.

Funny thing is that before the WX was released it was advertised to have threaded SMS, I still have the PDF showing it.

That's why, to me, it seems crazy that they won't let anyone host it. Many people were very upset when they found that it didn't actually have threaded SMS, and after a lengthy email campaign that TC users started, we were all hearing that it would be implemented "soon." Yeah right.

Who cares that the EXACT same post is on TreoCentral. Some people from that site dont even come here; while some here have reason to venture over there.

I cant believe you had the nerve to even ask why. At the end of the day, does "why" really matter. If you thought about this in a positive way, it may have dawned on you that posting it in multiple boards is a good thing.

I cant count the number of times someone has said that based on a post ELSEWHERE led them to here.

Also, he isnt the first nor will he be the last to post on multiple boards. If your issue had been that the same post was posted HERE in different threads, then and only then would I understand why your boxers would be wedged up your butt.

By now, everyone here at least, knows that THE threaded SMS people would kill for cant / wont be gotten here. If there is a 1/2 way decent alternative, I'd say post it everywhere that suits your heart. In my world, its called sharing knowledge!!!!!

Calm down there sparky. I was just curious why someone would post the same bi-tch thread in multiple places. Simple question received a simple answer.

It's done here lots of times, but the poster gives credit and even says that it's taken from another. This instance did neither.

Now that we have that all settled, my contention was over the "BS involved". We also got that explanation.

So yeah, I did ask a question. And why? Because I can. We're not in China. I can ask whatever I want. And why does matter. It provokes thought and a response, of which I got both. So I'm happy.
