Quick question: Palm 700WX stereo or mono
 

I have had my 700wx for a while but never bothered to test the headset that came with it and play some MP3s. The other I was trying that and sound only came out from one of the earbuds (right one). I tried another headset and the same thing happened.

Is the 700wx supposed to be stereo and if so, is there something missing like an adapter to get that or is there something wrong with my 700wx. I took the phone to a sprint store and rep there said that is how it is and his is the same way. That does not make any sense to me because Palm would not include a stereo headset in the box. He said well they do it so that the mic is centered. I am not sure what the guy was on or why he even works at the store.

What the heck does that mean--so the mic is centered? Weird.

It is supposed to play in Stereo.

It could be the settings in your media player. TCPMP allows you to turn on mono but I've never tried it with headphones so I don't know if it actually limits the output to one side.

I also know that there have been issues with the durability of the headphone plug.

That is exactly what I told the guy. He should not be working there.

I am not sure if there is a setting in teh device that controls that. I am even tempting a hard reset to see if it fixes the problem

Mine is stereo when I use earbuds that don't act as phone headsets such as regular earbuds with adapter or 2.5mm earbuds but I did try to buy 2 different brands of wired headsets that were for both music and phone and both of them only played into one of the ear pieces. I'd been meaning to post and ask about it and ask whether the Seido version works better.

WelL I tried 2 headset myself, the one that came with the 700wx and the one that came with the Samsung A900. That one I know for sure worked as Stereo on the samsung but did not work on the treo.
The one that came with the treo did not work either.

I went to another Sprint store last night and the tech guy tried it and it did not work, so thenhe decided to try it on the 700P and got the same results.

That's weird. My Treo headset plays in stereo with TCPMP. I just tried it.
