You need the Sprint SMS Patch only if the unit you got doesn't already have it. If you got a fresh wx I doubt you need it. Check here for directions on how to check if you need it: http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...SMS/index.html

If you need it, I would install that first. As far as the other 2 I can't really tell since I do not use either app. I think it won't really matter, but you never know.

Remember the Palm SMS Thread app is an unsupported beta.

On Palm's site it says:
Look at the Software Version. What do you see?
TREO700WX-1.13-SPNT:
Yes, you should install this update.

However, after the install this software version (on my phone anyway) is still the same. How does one confirm that installing the patch was successful?

Are you able to receive SMS from users on other carriers? Like T-Mobile for example?

If you do, it installed succesfully.

EDIT: Also, from that same link...

What to Expect

To verify if this patch is currently installed on the device launch File Explorer on the device and Navigate to the Windows folder. Within the Windows folder there will be a file named SMSBuildPatch. If you have this file, your device already has the software patch installed.

Because this application, once again, was a beta. It was not designed to work on other devices and it was just dissected by users from the 750v's ROM.

The app would have probably been fixed, however, Palm contacted all the sites involved with it and asked them remove it and stop working on it becuase it's their intellectual property.

For some users it work, for some it doesn't. Unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done now.

I installed in this order:
1. SMS patch
2. MMS Hack
3. SMS Thread beta

BTW my 700wx was purchased a week ago and it didn't have the SMS patch preloaded.
