Microphone tweaks
 

It's not a problem for me to listen to another Treo user while on the phone with them, maybe because I can understand that the Treo has an oversensitive omni directional mic. But, for other people that are constantly and incessantly complaining, i.e. "why is your radio so loud" (when its volume is on 3 out of 30), "who's talking?" (in response to a TV being on in the room), and other clucking and belly-aching.

Is there an app / tweak / hack / hardware mod that will add noise cancelling or desensitize the mic?

Palm recommends-Scotch tap with one tiny hole in it placed over mic :lol:

yeah i tried that....

but then i found StyleTap,
which allows Palm .prc files to run on PPC WM5.

Make sure to install VolumeCare (allows for the adjustment of volumes and MICROPHONE GAIN) after you install StyleTap.

a little update.....

styletap+volumecare do little, if anything to adjust the mic gain.

I tried playing around a little with it and thought there was a difference, but it seems that electronic sources of background noise (car radio, TV, PA systems) cause the most discomfort for the other person.
