How to disable wi-fi warning???? It's driving me nuts!

I just bought a SPECTEC sdio card off of ebay and it arrived today so of course I've been playing around with it all night....

It seems random and it's very annoying but seemingly every couple of minutes I get a Palm warning saying...

"Palm recommends 1) Turning off your phone radio when using a Wi-Fi SDIO card, and 2) Removing the card when not in use.

These steps will avoid the possibility of the card interfering with your phone operation. For EMERGENCY calls, always remove the card."

This is ungodly annoying....does anyone know how to kill this pop up notification? Is there a registry key that I can change? Amazingly the notification still pops up even when the phone is turned off!!!!! WTF?!?

SOMEBODY please help!

have you gone into the sounds and noitifications section and looked in the notiifications tab under events to see if there is a listing for the sled insertion notification and unchecked all the boxes for that? if so then its something to do with the card itself.

Actually it has nothing to do with Sled Insertion or with the card itself, but rather some type of default setting re: WiFI cards on the Palm Treo that is non-specific to any card (even the Palm Wifi card will do this).

Solution? I'm not aware of one. Sorry. Maybe we can get some people to look into it but I'm going to bet it is a low priority for most users.

I just wonder if there isn't a key in the registry that we could modify. I know that there are other notifications that can be disabled so there must be a way I would assume.

At least I hope so.

I am kind of surprised that this ISN'T a priority seeing that this is a direct issue with wifi cards. It REALLY hinders the daily use of one and is incredibly annoying.

I've briefly looked before and found nothing in the registry.

I mean not a high priority in the sense that there are very few SDIO Wifi card users with the Treo not that it isn't a priority for those who use wifi. There's barely any discussion of wifi at TreCentral so trying to get people to figure it out or be interested will be difficult.

I have a Palm WIFI card and mine dose this once when I first install the card. I have used the card for severely hours straight and I never see this again. If the treo is turned off than turned on again this message will come back, but during continued use I only see this message at startup.

NOPE, with my card it shows up at random intervals between 20secs apart to a couple of minutes.

If it was just the first time I inserted the card it would be fine but.....it's not.

Oh...

That IS different.

On my Palm card it's just when I turn on the device OR it's inserted for the first time.

That is something different and may be related to the drivers of your card.

Edit:

You are using this .cab/driver right?

I'm using the drivers that came on the cd with the card. It runs WiFiFoFum just fine, connects to networks fine, ect. Just that annoying popup.

Oddly the auction listed it as a Spectec card. It looks like one, same size and color but the name Spectec isn't any where on the card or the drivers, packaging, cd, ect.

Not sure exactly WHAT brand it is actually.

When I get home from work I'll try the spectec drivers to in case.

well the different drivers didn't help anything. the notification still pops up just as frequently.

i'm going to hunt around the registry and see if I can find something. I would think that it must be coming from there.

least I hope
