Question People cant read my attachments

Hey guys and gals, I use my treo for work and I email alot of documents (spreadsheets and word docs). Lately, when I email an attachment (usually a word doc or excel doc) the receiver has notified me that they can't read my attachments. What could be causing this? This has just started happening withing the last couple of weeks. I thought that it was just that whoever received the email was using a blackberry or something that wouldn't allow them to read these documents. But, they were using either winmo phones or pda's or a desktop/laptop. Any ideas what could be causing this, and what could I do to fix this? This is very important. I've had to run to a computer on several occasions to send stuff (and thats after having to sync my treo and pull the documents off, but that's another story. Any help would be appreciated as this is for my bread and butter.

sharpdude,
Not sure if this applies to you, but the number one reason for similar symptoms recently has been documents created using Office 2007 and then saved using the default format. These documents can't be read in Office 2003 or earlier, nor can they be read on WM5 (or even early WM6) phones. There is a pocket version of 2007 that can read such documents fine, but others need to install patches from Microsoft to be able to read them.
