notification sounds

Anyone ever have problems with the sounds for notifications not playing?

For example, when I receive a new e-mail, sometimes the phone plays the "new e-mail sound", most times it doesn't?

Anyone every deal with this?

I actually turned off the "new e-mail" notification because it was getting annoying.
