i do wish the battery life was a bit better but honestly it's not much worse than my vogue was running a custom 6.5 rom.
first thing i would do is make sure its uptodate with 1.3 and then check out a program called companionlink. it will allow you to hard sync your pre to your desktop. i am a sprint tech and there have been a few issues with the palm profile not resyncing contacts to a replacement pre. if you're a gmail or yahoo guy use it to sync your contacts/calendar. you'll be glad you did down the road. let me know if you have any other questions jofergus44@gmail.com but you will really like the pre

Is there a quick way to use the pre as a modem for tethering to the laptop, or should I just use the my tether software?

How long does it take novacom to install? The green bar is full but it won't complete the install. Its like its stuck or something.

I think mytether is going to be your option here. I am not sure if they got wifi working on the newest update, but USB tethering works just fine It's pretty easy to do as well. Good luck.

Wifi works in the latest update. We'll see what happens when WebOS 1.3.5 hits.

Could be because the Palm Profile screwed a bunch of people out of their contact information...

Could be the number of hardware failures people have had... (I had 4 different Palm Pres that all broke)

Could a whole lot of things.

That being said, I loved my Pre for the first 3 months I had it.

There's still an issue with the "automatic" backup. My Pre hasn't done an automatic backup since WebOS 1.3.1.
