Tweaks via Preware

As someone who is a huge fan of OTA (over the air) updates, there now is a new OTA way to apply tweaks. No longer will you have to root your Pre or hard wire it to a PC and use WebOS Quick Install.

If you aren't aware of Preware, you should be. Preware is an OTA homebrew installer. Allowing you to install homebrew programs, themes, the virtual keyboard and now tweaks. Instructions on how to install Preware are located here: http://forums.precentral.net/homebre...0-preware.html

As far as the new tweak installer, the following steps will get you rolling:

1) Load Preware (after installing it if you don't have it installed)
2) Select "List of Everything"
3) Look for "autopatch-feed"
4) Install the "autopatch-feed"
5) Update your feeds (or close and restart Preware)
6) The "Available Patches" will now be a number over 50.
7) Enjoy all the tweaks via OTA.

Note: Some patches require a manual restart before they will function.
Note: Not all patches work with WebOS 1.2, many still work, others are already updated. Don't stress about this, if you want to try a tweak, just do it. If it isn't compatible the install will fail.

One of my favorite new tweaks is the LED notifications. If you don't know what I'm talking about check out this youtube vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWoR9H46MNQ

You get an error you when you try to install Preware? Did you donwload the Package Manager Service? The best way to install Preware the first time on your Pre is to use WebOS Quick Install on your PC.

Let me know if you need directions on how to do that.

Trust me, I see much more stupidity on PreCentral than I generally see around here.

Ain't that the truth!!! People just don't seem to be able to read over there. You'll see 5 or 6 posts right in a row all asking the same thing...nevermind that the the first post contains EVERYTHING that you need to know about the tweak or homebrew app, etc.

Coz
