Pre location problem

My girlfriend and I bought pre's last weekend and love them. But every time we bring up google maps or Sprintnav it's always off by a good 5 blocks of our location. Does anyone else have this issue? we always have good reception...

Mine's always dead on. Do you give it a couple seconds to improve its fix? Also try typing in ##477# (##GPS#) on your dialer then press "Get Fix." See if your accuracy improves in Google Maps after that.

I have tried that sometimes it's dead on sometimes it's not. Hmm will have to play around a lot more to figure this out. Thanks.

Just for the sake of being thorough, you're not connected to an Airave when checking location, are you? That would throw it off.

I didin't even think of this one. Maybe an Airave down the street is picking up your signal. Try it from a different location like work or grocery store parking lot and see if this issue is still present. Here is some info on the Airave.

essentially a portable tower that routes your calls and such via the internet

Easiest way to confirm (for the sake of certainty) is to dial *99. If you're connected to an Airave you'll get something like, "You are now within Airave coverage." Otherwise I think it will tell you the feature code is invalid.

I just dialed *99 and the code is invalid... Hmmmm At work it still says i'm at the same location as when I was at home.... 2 blocks off I might take it to a store.

Try this, go to the launcher and find and click Location Services. Check if Auto Locate and User GPS are on. If it is not turn them on and then try it again. Geotag Photos and Backgound Data Collection can be turned off and will not affect GPS performance.
