I just read that too....I'm starting to get a bit concerned about Palm and their future. I love the Pre and WebOS and would hate to see both slowly drift off into history.

Ouch. Hopefully if they are throwing buckets of water out of the boat as we speak, someone big like an HTC will come along and buy them up and possibly continue the webOS platform, maybe on more devices. Good or bad idea?

It seems many people would agree than an HTC acquisition would be good for the Palm brand. HTC would acquire Palm licenses and a superior mobile OS. I can only image the HTC Evo running WebOS. As for now I am really considering dropping my Pre in exchange for the Evo.

Such a shame, webOS is one of the best mobile OS'es I've ever seen its a shame they haven't made it work. The Pre is an OK phone but its not the best quality, and they make their second device a LOWER-end version. Doesn't make sense to me, I really hope HTC buys them like rumored and they make a webOS phone. Perhaps Palm should have done that from the beginning.

It is a shame. WebOS is awesome.... But I to am waiting for the EVO. That is my phone. Could only be better if it had the webOS card system for multitasking.

sadly, I'm on the same boat as well... I would love to upgrade to a new Palm device cuz IMO webOS is the BEST mobile OS period. But Palm's future is looking grim especially if we won't get doc editing anytime soon... I'd never trade my Pre for a vanila Android device cuz beside the app #, webOS is superior in almost every way but slap HTC Sense and all HTC's enhancements and goodies on a monster device, the gap closes enough small enough that you got a new EVO owner come June

Yeah, The DataViz email/announcement sounds like a cop out to me.
