500mhz (stock clock speed)= slow - 800 mhz= fast

I've noticed that this site doesn't have much in the way of WebOS news, so I figure I'll start posting finds, tips and the like here in hopes of keeping the webos side of this forum alive. So... For those of you who don't know, the pre's stock clock speed is 500 mhz, which is upclocked to 600 during 3d game play. The armV7 chipset is rated at 600 mhz. Unfortunately for you pixi owners, you have the armV6, which cannot handle these speeds. Why am I telling you this? Because 500 mhz is somewhat slow, but 2 individuals have been hard at work creating a custom kernal to overclock the speeds to 800 mhz or 720 respectively. It is in the form of a patch that will be available tomorrow or possibly right now ( it isn't as of the last time I checked). So do some googling and check it out. I'm not about to flame ppcgeeks to get everyone to that site, because I love ppcgeeks :) so you'll have to find it yourself. Btw... IT's FREAKING FAST!!!

seidio 2600 is the answer brothaman, never leave home without it!

I ran into some trouble with the new 800 kernel. I had about 15 patches and didn't uninstall before installing the kernel. 1st day was wicked fast but 2nd day was full of freezes. I decided to doctor and wipe my palm profile of any and all residue. This did the trick. I'm layin low on patching just cause this phone is now unbelievably fast (faster than any diamond you put in front of me for sure :) and patches could have minor bugs in them unnoticable on the stock kernel, but once the 800mhz takes over, those minors become maaajors.

I couldn't be happier with my pre... Wait wait, yes I could, I'd like that 4.3" screen that's been goin around. I hear it's addicting!

I've not had a problem with patches and the 800 patch thru 3 days now. Fingers crossed! In fact I no longer have the issue of my phone randomly restarting like I did after installing 1.4 but before installing the 800 patch.

Today is Wednesday and still no ill effects. Performance is much enhanced and no glitches or heat issues. I'm gonna run it for a full week before I pronounce it the real deal but so far so good.
