Re: Google to Challenge Microsoft With Operating System
This isn't really Pocket PC news but it is interesting. I knew they were thinking of it though.

Re: Google to Challenge Microsoft With Operating System
I for one am not interested in this, as I am reluctant to place much emphasis and dependability on the "cloud."

Re: Google to Challenge Microsoft With Operating System
is basically the same thing as m$ Live. they are working on basically the same thing with the free live office, ect.. netbooks to come.
actually this reminds me I'm using their new security essentials (built for the live netbooks, and based off Frontend) |
Re: Google to Challenge Microsoft With Operating System
I like the Security Essentials too. Anyway I think it will just be a catfight.

Re: Google to Challenge Microsoft With Operating System
free and open source...and virtually without any kind of real customer service (and google fan forums dont count). pretty much the hole reason linux, heck even mac, never caught on in the business world which is a huge portion of pc computing. plus if you use a pc at work you're more inclined to use a pc at home.
oh also meant to put this new google operating system will compete with -other- versions of linux and mac os...so overall i'm in support of it. |
Re: Google to Challenge Microsoft With Operating System
This is really not new. This announcement during the summer, and Google's foray into the mobile OS market is why they were kicked out of Apple's board a while back.
Cloud computing scares me. I'd rather have all of my information in one spot where I have some control over it. Otherwise I am at the mercy of the service providers reliability. Think Sidekick and Tmobile. They recently just had a catastrophic outage and lots of people lost data. |
