While I hope Verizon customers can select the Pre, didn't Verizon publicly state they are carrying the Pre in January?

I don't think this can be verified considering it hasn't even been reported anywhere else
a vzw hero would rock don't get me wrong but is softpedia reliable?

man Verizon love copying sprint dont ya? They should just merge together create a massive CDMA network that would rvial the gsms. Then get their own Iphone and kill the market ( though I will still be using my good gold touch pro 2)

im would be happy to see this but with all the work they did and the announcements i feel that they should get the pre as well as the hero and build the ppc buzz throughout their company up by getting more devices.... i think the merger with alltel is oging to help them in the long run with that.

I honestly don't think this is true
vzw has been trying to sell the pre via telesales since august (and it hasn't even been announced!)
The htc hero lacks an announcement on any pocket pc site, reps, and a lot of other things.

Softpedia is a lot of things but sometimes stories there aren't reliable. So until I see some proof of it, I don't consider it reliable

I hope the pre does well on verizon. And once the GSM version starts selling, Palm will have a winner on their hands. This is a great time for cell phones, and choices. Score.

This is not in any way confirmed but I talked to a VZW salesman today and he said its very very doubtful they will be getting the hero but are alnost certainly getting the Pre sometime around xmas.
I asked why not the hero and he said they wanted to put more focus on the Motorola Android phone they are releasing soon and see how well it goes over

I agree with Noir. However, Engadget Mobile and Boy Genius Report that the Android-powered HTC Desire gets FCC approval for Verzion. It may not be the Hero, but it's most likely be packing the Sense UI.
