Verizon to launch HTC Imagio October 6th, Android-powered HTC Predator to follow
It looks as though T-Mobile subscribers will have two big reasons reasons to rejoice come November 11th, but they’re not the only ones with cause for celebration in the near future. Let’s not forget that Windows Mobile fans around the world will have a reason to party well ahead of that; in fact, one of our trusty ninjas has just added to the Windows Phone fray with the juicy tidbit that on October 6th — the day Windows Mobile 6.5 devices lift off globally — Verizon Wireless plans to get in on the action with the HTC Imagio. Codenamed Whitestone and previously mistaken for the Touch Diamond2, the Imagio features WinMo 6.5 along with a 3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen display, a 528MHz Qualcomm processor, 512MB ROM/256MB RAM, a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and anti-shake, GPS and GSM connectivity in addition to Verizon’s CDMA/EV-DO connectivity. Our ninja also notes that Microsoft’s myPhone service will officially lift off on October 6th as well, and it will include 2GB of online storage. As a tasty little aside, the HTC Predator will land on VZW later in October, though for the time being all we know is that it will run Android. Getting excited yet, Verizon fans?

Maybe you Touch Pro2 buyers should have waited?

That phone looks fantastic. If sprint picks this thing up, they better not be charging anywhere near $300 on contract. Since the Verizon TP2 is only $200 on contract, will this thing be less, considering this is essentially a keyboard-less TP2?

HTC making Imagio and Predator for Verizon, mulls Snapdragon
updated 08:40 am EDT, Fri September 18, 2009
HTC Imagio and Predator due in October

HTC is rumored to be stepping up its smartphone presence with two rare smartphones meant primarily for Verizon as well as a possible significant processor boost. The Imagio is believed by BGR to be the final version of the Whitestone and, unlike with past claims, should be a more original design that may launch first on Verizon's network. It should have a 3.6-inch 800x480 touchscreen and usual features like 3G, GPS and Wi-Fi, but it should come preloaded with Windows Mobile 6.5 and support GSM for world roaming.

The smartphone would appropriately be ready on October 6th, the same day as the Windows Mobile upgrade appears, and may be considered a flagship device for Microsoft as a result.

A second device, the Predator, has received few details but is expected to be the first HTC-made Android phone for Verizon and to ship later in October. Other tips suggest it has been codenamed the Desire.

Regardless of carrier, a new claim by the newspaper China Times asserts that HTC is looking to implement Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors in "high-end" smartphones during the fall. It's unmentioned which phones would receive the treatment, but the change would make HTC's phones some of the fastest on the mark.

The Predator might be the HTC PR17 recently approved by the Bluetooth SIG as an Android phone featuring Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR and A2DP.

I think it is the same phone as the imagio just running android. Does this mean that we should be able to get the android platform to run on HTC pro touch2?
