Toshiba TG01 Software Review

I watched this Toshiba TG01 software review yesterday and I'm just not sure how to not blame Microsoft for our slow devices...

I first had the HTC Wizard - 200Mhz CPU
Then HTC Titan - 400Mhz CPU
My current HTC Raphael - 528Mhz CPU

My second phone was double the clock of my first and my current one is clocked about 32% higher than my last one...

All of these devices feel they are the same in speed. All slow in the same places and all slow overall in many places (for instance keyboard lag is INSANE on my Touch Pro. More so than I ever remember before.)

From this video the 1Ghz snapdragon is slow too... HOW!!!

It doesn't make sense to hope for a custom rom to make it run better. The OEM has a direct line to Microsoft and the companies who make the hardware. They should be able to make a properly performing device. Since this is spanning every Windows Mobile phone maker it makes me wonder what the deal is...

ROM chefs cook stuff by slicing and dicing things from one device to another and adding and droping stuff on an ad-hoc basis. I'm not sure many really know how various things inter-relate primarily because the documentation isn't public. As a result, the stock rom should be just as good, if not better, than a custom rom performance wise...

Re: Toshiba TG01 Software Review

going to disagree well and agree in part
I made a comment on another thread when it was posted that the toshiba was slow...and I think that is the limitation of wm 6.1. And I said then will it run better in a wm 6.5 environment? I still posit that question though
it is sad that the culprit is wm (are we surprised it is a 1 ghz processor and you expect it to run like butter)

Re: Toshiba TG01 Software Review

...IMHO...this phone looks terrible simply because of it's horrible stock ROM. Doesn't seem like Toshiba's trying very hard here.
