I'm right there with ya. i would think it would be good b/c hopefully it'll mean better quality devices, but like you said all those cool devices might be left out.

Intresting that they finally make this move now. WM has always been the least n00b friendly OS of any pda. I take this move as competition forcing there hand as both Apple and RIM idiot proofed there products to be more user friendly. Not to mention the cost of making sooo many deferent devices running the same os.

microsoft is sfotware company they only develop core OS. HTC and others are the one who port it to their device.

MS doesn't optimize XP for PC. OEM does that.
MS needs to improve UI and lower required system resource.
