Moto Droid or Eris??

Which do you think is better?
Im thinking of going with the Eris because as much as i liked my hardware keyboard, i dont think I need it anymore (touch pro user)
and I really like Sense UI (Installed ROM on touch pro)
and the Eris seems to have a lot to offer in such a thin phone.
Plus, its only $100! Thats nice.
What do you all think?!

Re: Moto Droid or Eris??

I'm leaning toward Eris cause it's smaller, I held Droid in my hand and its small compared to TP2 but big if you don't need keyboard.

Re: Moto Droid or Eris??

Well, the droid has a faster proc, so spec wise the keyboard isnt the only difference. I do miss having a trackball on the front of the device, but a faster android is a nice android

Soooo true. Any chance the Sense UI can be ported to the Moto Droid?

Re: Moto Droid or Eris??

Droid by a mile. I played with both today for a long time and the eris has a much smaller less sharp screen and the whole OS in general is slower. Eris runs android 1.5 Droid is 2.0.
Droid is just faster snappier, and much prettier device.

I have to agree although I have not seen either in person yet. In the end its about how much do you wanna spend? $99 for the Eris is one hell of a deal for a great little phone , as equally is $199 is a great deal for the Moto Droid but its twice the price of the Eris but you get alot more..... I think it comes down to your price point and if you can swing the $199 its MotoDroid FTW.

Eris has a slower processor , no dedicated GPU , smaller screen with lower resolution, Android 1.5, only 8GB card installed , no Google Navigation and no flash for the camera which is not a route I will be taking again after my TP2. Also I would imagine it has to be cheap plastic 'feeling' like the TP2 compared to the glass and metal constuction of the MotoDroid. Still for the price? I think anybody would be lucky to have an Eris but if you've got the extra dinero , spring for the MotoDroid instead.

(IMO)

Re: Moto Droid or Eris??

moto droid by a mile... hardware, software and looks wise imho better - eris seemed a little toy like compared to the seriousness of the droid.

not a big fan of the track ball - have a bb w/one
already had an 8gb sd card - wanted 16gb
google nav only on moto

i like htc and I am sure the sense ui is nice - but i bet it won't be long before I can put it on the moto

Eris would have been great if HTC wouldn't have slapped their UI on the phone. That is what slowing it down. I went with the DROID simply because it had a Stock OS on it and no VZ bloatware. I can make it my own with free apps on top of that!

i disagree sense is sooo much better than stock android..ie multitouch, flash player, widgets, social network integration and overall look...but anyways if you do like stock better you can always turn off HTC's sense through the application manager

and plus the eris will be getting 2.0 before the end of this year, htc is working on overlaying eclair with sense so that is going to be awsome
