Never had an issue with my GPS. I would suggest though that you find another map application. The problem with the Google app is it downloads the map info while you drive. If you loose your cell signal your map will not update. It could also be very slow at updating.

I use Co-Pilot Live NA. You download the map for North America before the app will even work. Its very accurate has several different voices and you can see what satellites your locked onto.

I used the laptop version for years while driving cross country as a truck driver. It never let me down.
