Did you go into the program and change the notification from default to your own ringtone?

Sorry I didn't make it clear probably. You can decide what you want to save it as. As you noticed, because you did this. Ok, you have the notification chosen, but have you set the sound in the application to fire the ringtone that you want? In GMail it is set to default ringtone which needs to be changed. In twidroid you also have to change it, etc...

hi, how are. you responded to my question about making text/email notifications into a ringtone. i downloaded and did everything like you said, but i still get the simple sound that comes with the phone. when i go to notification and sound i see the song that i chose, i hit ok and it even says the name of the current ringtone which is right. i had no problem with setting up a ringtone for incoming calls. i guess im doing something wrong still. im not too bright when it comes to this computer stuff. any suggestions? thanks a lot for your help

Root means gaining access to root options on your phone. Essentially it is unlocking it. Go to my Tips and Tricks thread in the Hero section. The first 3 posts are about rooting, flashing a recovery image and putting a new rom on. Then you can go down to my apps2sd2 link where I explained how to do that. Done. Make sure you go IN ORDER and if you have any problems let me know. I am not responsible for anything happening to your phone.
