Question Permanently Kill Data Connection?? (Flashed from Sprint)

I've searched, yes, searched (imagine the thought of that! lol) high and low for about 3 weeks now for this solution.

How do you permanently kill the data connection on a Sprint Touch (now ported over to Verizon). My girlfriend doesn't have a data plan, and sometimes, it initates a connection (to which she is charged everytime, gotta love that instant availability of bill charges) and I want to stop that.

I don't know if it's a registry tweak or something, but I've tried to remove and alter the settings and phone numbers, but it seems to be able to reset itself (WITHOUT a soft/hard reset!). Any insight to this simple problem would be helpful, I may have missed something in my reading.

Thanks!

Can't you have Verizon block data on the account?

Re: Permanently Kill Data Connection?? (Flashed from Sprint)

Delete the connection under Start -> Settings -> Connections, go to "manage existing connections", when your connection shows up in the box, tap and hold, and go to delete.

That way it won't have a number to dial-in to to get a data connection.

Cheers

Re: Permanently Kill Data Connection?? (Flashed from Sprint)

You can block it from the account, but it still gives the option (no clue why) to use it on demand. Meaning, if you want to use it, you can still get charged for it. Not a good option. I know on Sprint, you can do that and it (data) doesn't work AT ALL (I like that, that way, no sneaky charges).

When you delete the connection, it comes back. Before a reset is even performed. It only takes about 4-5 minutes before the connection is back to it's original state.

I'm thinking something in a reg edit. Anyone?

Re: Permanently Kill Data Connection?? (Flashed from Sprint)

I'm running that app, but after a soft reset(I do alot because I keep screwing with my cube via reg edits) it reenables itself. Any way to change the default to disable?

I just got the same thing. When you soft reset for any reason, the data is back.

Getting closer though!!!
