Re: need help with gps

What have you tried so far? Did you let the customizations run? Have you tried flasshing a custom rom such as NFSFAN's 1.12 Verizon?

Re: need help with gps

Do a search for Holux GPS viewer it is very helpful, it will determine the port that the GPS is on (Usually com4) and you can set the speed and best of all as mine sometimes gets in a knot it has a cold and warm start feature which will reset the GPS. I use it when I am having trouble getting a lock to get it to start fresh.

Re: need help with gps

im the same as the poster, i can get the com 4 to send info but i can never get a lock. ive tried a ton of steps listed here. I have a Sprint 6900 that i hacked to work on Verizon and i fooled VZW into thinking its my old 6700 but copying its ESN over. I did that such a long time ago i forgot how.

But for the life of me i cant get the damn thing to lock on. Ive used the Gps External (is that Holux's?), HTC Gps Router, HTC Gps Tool and i can get it to register and pump out info from Com 4 but nothing else.... no locks.

Re: need help with gps

Take a look at this thread over at ppchaven.com. If you let the custumizations run then you have in effect locked the GPS function. I would also recommend flashing NFSFAN's 1.12 Verizon ROM. I never let the customizations run on my phone & had some GPS fuctionality without any fixes or hacks. Now after flashing NFSFAN's ROM the GPS works flawlessly with TomTom. I am getting GPS locks usually within a minute.

Re: need help with gps

Don't know if this will help at all but I've had 3 different Vogue's (dead touchscreen, dead camera, and my current one). I've always been able to get GPS working and yesterday I used Google Maps all afternoon to find my way to various addresses. This morning, no GPS locks! VisualGPS would find up to 5 satellites outdoors and none indoors and would never lock on to a single satellite.

I soft-reset a dozen times, checked and re-checked the QPST stuff from XDA and checked and re-checked my registry settings . Everything was fine but still no dice. I was getting ready to clear my weekend for a hard-reset when I thought to try removing the battery for 30 seconds. All be damned if it didn't work!

These Vogues are amazing gizmos but they sure are flaky.

.... never mind.. it only worked one time. GPS is pretty useless now.

I have gotten the GPS to work with official WM6.1 ROM without any hack or fixes. However I never let the customizations run from day one. The AGPS fix where you use the QPST stuff didn't work for me. Basically every time I wanted to use the GPS I would have to soft reset. Now that I have NFSFAN's Verizon ROM installed the GPS work flawlessly every time. It seems that people are having varying success. I still think a lot of the problem is not unlocking the phone & letting customizations run.

Re: need help with gps

^^ Lame... Boo for Verizon

So what other forms of unlocking the GPS have other people used that are still working after this extra lock down? Or rather, are there any (QPST, etc)?
