Plug-in infrared adapter for the mini-usb?

I just picked up a new car that has infrared beam acceptance for it's navigation system right on the dash (to beam addresses). While my laptop can send infrared beams to the car, it would be better for my HTC Touch to handle this as well.

Is there any form of a plug in adapter to give the Touch infrared capabilities? Or even a wireless (Bluetooth-->infrared) adapter? I normally wouldn't care about infrared, but this makes me want to get a new phone that already has the capability built in to make it possible.

The Touch can't host usb devices through the usb port. The only way to connect to the Touch is through bluetooth. (or technically using a micro sdio card, which really isn't practical)
