Re: Getting GPS to work..I need help

Changing the following registry value seemed to solve all of my problems:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A3 8-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\Phone as Modem]
"Enabled"=dword:00000000"

Change the value to 0, and soft reset.

It appears that the GPS, by default, makes use of the "Phone as Modem" data connection to take advantage of aGPS, but if a "Sprint PCS" data connection is already active, the GPS doesn't swap connection methods and ultimately hangs. This problem is exacerbated if you have Push services or other data connections running.

Re: Getting GPS to work..I need help

apollooff320,

are you on the verizon network by chance? i just read in another post that the radio version shipped with the verizon rom cripples the GPS functionality to VZNavigator only.. if you are not on verizon, i do not know what else could cause this..

Re: Getting GPS to work..I need help

I feel your pain - I use astrolauncher to launch igo8 - I have attached the zip file for you to download. There are instructions in there and it is very easy to use.

Hope this helps!

I checked mine and the value is set to ZERO. I am using the HTC 6900 Sprint on Sprint network.

Re: Getting GPS to work..I need help

Today, 10/01/08 I flashed my ROM and got GPS working after a bit of trial and error. It was alot easier than I thought. Start here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=24979

After that, go here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=30109
If you read carefully, and follow all of the directions, it will work for you.

For your info, I used the official stock Sprint ROM.

Good luck.

Re: Getting GPS to work..I need help

If you're on Verizon, this is what you want to do. Quick locks (10 seconds) using aGPS. Works great with Garmin XT, no priming necessary. Hope this helps...
