GPS in Spain?$?$?$?$

Hey all...quick question. I am going to Spain tomorrow. I read that my GPS on my mobile 6.1 touch should work. I called Sprint. The lady said, no, cuz you won't have internet service. I asked her what?? She then said that it would work but I would be charged DOUBLE ROAMING CHARGES since I was in a country and the phone had a harder time finding the towers.(?????)

I already have iGO8 maps ready to go for Spain...

Does anyone know...

1) Will this work?
2) Am I going to be charged a ton of money to use it?

Any answers or direction would be helpful.

Thanks

Mike in St. Louis

IF you us igo or any nav program that comes with maps you don't need an internet connection if you use sprint nav or google maps or search then you do. turn off your phone and you can still use igo. phone off means no internet

Re: GPS in Spain?$?$?$?$

No the Sprint touch is not going to work inSpain.

I took my touch to cancun mexico and the phone was not able to get a gps fix. I had an extended battery running and was never able to get a good lock and it keep going to 0,0 location in the latitude and longtiude. .

Search around the forumn and people have been complaining the touch gps does not work overseas.

I was in Paris, iGo never got a lock on GPS, now I am in Egypt, it still doesn't get lock. When I am back at home, I get locked within seconds so my conclusion is Touch GPS does not work over see.

Cool it there, buddy!

Well, I think what he's trying to say is:

GPS = GLOBAL Positioning Satellite

You can get a GPS fix anywhere in the world [that has GPS signal]. However, DO NOT use the radio part of your phone. Go to comm manager, and put it in airplane mode. And do not turn it back on.
