HTC Touch Texting Problem

okay i recently just got my htc touch updated to windows 6.1. then just yesterday i got text added to my phone. Now when im about to text, right when i click send, the message goes right to my outbox. And if it doesnt go to the outbox, it just makes a new conversation in the inbox with that person, but the person never recieves the text message.
So last night i called sprint, and my phone was working again. but this morning, when i tried to send a text message again, it went straight to the inbox.
I live in Stratford CT, and when i was talking to a Sprint Person Online, that said that there was an outage in my area. But when i send a text message from my sisters phone to my moms.. it works perfectly fine. any help on why this is happening!!! please help!!
