why would you want your touch to roam??

Maybe you read or know something that I do not but even when my phone is "roaming", there isn't really any difference between the standard state. So...I don't think it really matters.

some people only get EV-DO when they roam, therefore roaming is good for them.

also sometimes a sprint signal is weak and a different signal is stronger such as US Cellular in the country and you do not want to bounce around from sprint to USCell so you just lock it into roam.

I think all the Sprint plans have free roaming now - but you will get busted (and may lose your plan) if you roam all the time.
