Re: big problem

If the phone still works, you can flash back to your stock rom, if not, then it doesnt matter.

I agree, you could reflash to the original ROM. However, If you can't read the screen, my guess is that they won't even waste their time looking at the firmware loaded. They'll just get you a replacement at whatever cost, based on your agreement.
If you have insurance, you could also tell them that you lost it. You'll pay $50 for a refurb one... That avoids the whole customization issue.
Btw, if one store won't take care of you, tell them thanks and head to another Sprint store. Service and professionalism varies greatly.

Good luck!

Re: big problem

I dropped my Touch and broke the screen. I took it in expecting them to replace it under the insurance, but what do you know, they actually fixed it (in 20 minutes)! That was before I had flashed a new ROM, so I didn't need to worry about that.

Re: big problem

What kind of 'break' is in the screen. Is it still visible? Does the touch sensor just not work anymore? Or is there a fatty a$$ crack across the screen?

Re: big problem

if you guys on here are good with building phones and stuff sometimes you can find moguls, touches on ebay that are broken and can be fixed for less than 50 bucks. which is better than paying sprint the money for it.
