do we need an alltel forum?

I'm just beginning to get into the rom flashing stage and see some i'd like to try but if what i've read is right, I can't use like 99 percent of these roms as they are for sprint. Is that right? I've seen a few roms where people were nice enough to post Alltel or Bell versions but I'm a bit confused on what roms work with alltel phones, like mine. I see the sprint leaked rom for example, using 6.1. Can I load it to my phone or would it cause trouble? If the majority of roms here are only compatible with sprint phones, could we get an Alltel forum or at least some designation like sprint only (i've seen this on a few roms so I have to wonder).

At the least, I'd like to request a change on the forum topic from "Discussions about the Sprint Vogue" to include the rest of us.

I believe, though I'm not sure. you'd def wanna ask onna the chefs over me, but i believe u can use the kitchen with the leaked rom and set it to alltel since it's just changing the OS at that point, doesn't go deeper..

Re: do we need an alltel forum?

I tried to cook one for mine, everything went fine...until I tried to use it as a phone, lol. I had signal but couldn't get the dialer to come up. I had the HTC default one selected.

My point is, I agree, that as a noob, it's rough trying to cypher through what works and what doesn't for each carrier, or is it carrier specific. I'm reading every chance I get, but wow, information overload!

My thanks to all the people here that have shared and continue to share information!

Re: do we need an alltel forum?

I have cooked alot of roms for my alltel touch. Just make sure you flash the latest htc release for the alltel touch (this gives you the 3.37.10 radio) then unlock with 2.31coke then cook and flash away with the buildos Kitchen. Make sure you select alltel for your carrier in the kitchen.

The only problem im having is with mms. I can send an mms but i am unable to recieve any. Any one have any ideas? I have selected arcsoft 3.0.26.12c in the kitchen and i have also tried installing it with the arcsoft 3.0.26.12c.cab
This post has been thanked 1 times.

Re: do we need an alltel forum?

Thanks for the info Extreme, I will post a thread with what I picked for my settings and hopefully you can tell me what I goofed on. I don't want to change the topic for this thread. I think it would be great for us to have a spot for the experts to answer our questions, not too many times over and over and over.....

Re: do we need an alltel forum?

I just wanted to drop a link to my Alltel ROM. I can even setup some minor post-install customizations for you the way I have it set up. The link is in my signature.
