Constant hiss from ear piece

Has anyone else noticed with their touch, that there is a hiss sound that comes out of the ear piece? It's fairly quiet and not too noticeable when talking, but quite noticeable when there is no talking or a pause in talking. Now that I know its there I can even hear it while I am talking now.

My Razr on U.S. Cellular is dead silent.

Is this normal or is my Touch defective? Its only a few weeks old.

What's your point? I did a seach for "sidetone" in this forum and this is the only thread that came up. I googled "touch sidetone" and that didn't help. I'm curious if you can help us with this question instead of the "search for it" response.

From what I have read on the internet, this does not fit what is called "sidetone". All I want to know is if other Touch owners have the same problem.

I'm not sure if it is a problem but I do notice a small hiss in my earpiece. I read a lot of different forums and have never seen this addressed.

i got 5 touchs for my family and all of them have that hiss sound....so there for your fone is not defective....even my fone is on silent..

Thank you. I guess it's just how its got to be. I won't bother trying to get a replacement. I wonder if this can be fixed with a software tweak?

i believe that hissing sound come from the fone trying to to connect to the internet for data ( weather, or email).im assuming this tho, but dont have time to test it.
