Trying to dialup

hi, first post here!
just got the HTC touch (sprint).
i do not want the sprint internet service, and have had it cancled... i can use internet on the phone, through my laptop (via bluetooth, or usb) so i can update WM6 or livesearch or whatever...

but i thought it would be handy to have at times, if i wanted, without having to use sprints internet service...
our HOME content providers (satellite, wildblue) allows us 10 hours a month of dialup...

what im trying to do, is use wildblues internet for times when i would like to use the internet on the phone... away from the house...

i called sprint (man are they retards) and wildblue.. both were useless to me...

i can dialup on my computer just fine... can someone help me do the same on the HTC? the phone number is correct, the user and pass i have chacked and rechecked, and rechecked again...
im out of ideas..
please help!

thanks

It won't work. I don't think you've been able to do this with a Sprint phone since they had the old "wireless web" more than 5 years ago. And if you found an old phone that would work it would cost you 39 cents a minute, so it's not worth even messing with. With Sprint having plans with unlimited data and all kinds of other goodies for $30 a month I can't imagine why you'd mess around with dialup anyway. - sheureka

dont say it is not possible unless you are 100%..
sprint themselves said it is possible... they didnt know why it wasnt working....

i know it is possible.. can someone walk me through it...

Let me be a little more specific - there is no analog modem, and to dial a regular isp you need an analog modem. You can't send faxes with your Touch - and you can't dial up a regular isp. And yes, I'm 100% sure. - sheureka

That is for digital dial-ups.... there is a way to call an analog ISP with your cell phone, go find an old 300 baud modem with the rubber cups and adapt it to fit your phone.

who offers digital dialup? this all seems very goofy to me... shows what i know.
maybe wildblue has a digital dialup number....
i cant justify buying the internet package with sprint.. i feel it is a scam.. if i didnt have dsl (for free at my condo) i would get it! but i have internet...
i just want something for when i am on the road, with my laptop (although i dont think it is much of a problem anymore, with most hotels offering WIFI)
i just like the idea of being able to dialin, and get online, if needed, not pay 3cents a KB, or buy the internet package at 15 a month...

if this would work, it would be perfect!
i love how sprint has disabled everything (GPS, WIFI), forcing one to buy this package...

p

EDIT: and why didnt sprint just jump to the chase when i called them about this issue... i hate the feeling that i know more than they do... scary thought...

was reading over the features of the TOUCH.. and read this on the sprint site:
https://shopbiz.sprint.com/popup_pro...&bundleID=2256

Phone as Modem: Use the included USB cable, or Bluetooth Wireless technology, to connect with a PC for Internet and email access.

please tell me what this is for then?

PJ, yes that is correct, Like it has been stated here before, you can use it as a modem to connect to a digital data network, LIKE SPRINT!
